St. Mary’s Preschool and Enrichment Program is committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment centered around Christian values. Students engage in hands-on activities that support learning and mastery of early childhood skills based on the Common Core Standards for Early Childhood.
Children experience learning in ways that lead them to become passionate, life-long learners. Social development includes cooperative play, sharing, following directions, initiating conversation and play situations with peers, entering into group activities, developing a positive relationship with teachers and caring about others. Christian ideas of God, love and kindness are woven into the learning experience along with daily prayer.
Our preschool schedule is as follows:
Enrichment Program is More than Day Care
All children benefit from consistency and reinforcement of emerging skills. The Preschool and Enrichment teachers work together to align both classes. During Enrichment, the students follow the same monthly themes and extend the experience of Basic Preschool to reinforce those targeted skill areas introduced in the classroom. Aligned behavior plans and the individualized instruction that occurs in Enrichment will support successful mastery in the Basic Preschool Class.
Enrichment classes provide more time for exploration and inquiry about the ideas and concepts introduced in basic preschool. Additional opportunities for developing social skills are available through play with peers and interactive experiences with the elementary school children who assist in storytelling and special projects.
“We can’t begin to express our gratitude for all of the effort, love and dedication shown to our 3 children at St. Mary Preschool. We felt happy knowing our children were in a loving and safe environment. We lived in Amherst for 10 years and drove to Vermilion specifically for St. Mary Preschool.”
