Welcome! My name is Megan Bis and I've been teaching at St. Mary since 2018! I am a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am a Toledo native and attended St. Joseph Elementary School (Sylvania) and Notre Dame Academy, growing strong in my faith at both parochial schools.
I am very passionate about working with children, and have experience working in two childcare facilities. I am hard-working, structured, compassionate, and enthusiastic in the classroom. My favorite way to spend my time is being with my large family, especially my twin three-year-old nephews. I also love reading books, going to concerts, spending time with friends, swimming, going to Indians games, and vacationing in Hilton Head Island.
I grew up in Vermilion in a family of artists and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Wittenberg University. I have taught art for 24 years; 16 of those years at St. Mary School. I have also taught preschool for 27 years and have been the director of three of the preschools in town, including helping start the one at St. Mary's. I've been married to my husband, Frank, for 39 years. We have two grown children, Joseph and Jillian. I enjoy various arts and crafts and have volunteered my time and talents to various community projects in town for fundraising auctions.
I am excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year. I hope to bring my creativity and love of learning to my class. I am blessed to have a wonderful group of children, all of whom I have had as students before in either Art of pre-school -- we know each other already! Parents can feel free to contact me at any time.
